The Oracle Queen (Three Dark Crowns #0.1) Read Online Free - The #1 New York Times bestselling author of the Three Dark Crowns series introduces readers to the Oracle Queen in this riveting prequel e-novella.
Triplet queens born on the island of Fennbirn can be many things: Elementals. Poisoners. Naturalists. If an oracle queen is born, however, one with the gift of sight, she’s immediately drowned, extinguishing her chance at ever taking the throne.
But that’s not how it always was. This cautionary practice started long ago, with Queen Elsabet—the legendary, and last, oracle queen—whose reign was tinged with blood and horror.
Paranoid, ruthless, and utterly mad, Elsabet’s mistrust led to the senseless slaying of three entire houses of innocent people. At least, that’s the unchallenged tale carried down from generation to generation. But what really happened? Discover the true story behind the queen who, though born with the gift of sight, could not foresee her swift and sudden fall from power . . . until it was too late.
Fans of the Three Dark Crowns series will be enthralled with Queen Elsabet’s genesis, riveted by her madness, and compelled by her tragic—and bloody—reign.

This was such a good back story on some of the historical elements of the Three Dark Crowns saga but WOW am I SO mad at some of these characters. A testament to good writing, in my books (excuse the pun).

2.5 stars. This novella’s only redeeming qualities are that it is set in my current favorite fantasy world of Fennbirn, and that it gets a little fast paced and backstabby in places which is always fun. Probably not worth your time though!

Dear god, what is this thing ? I have a hard time believing Kendare Blake wrote this because it honestly reads like a fanfic. It has a smidge of her awesome sass in the beginning, but 1/4th of this book is about a painting and what the queen thinks of everyone's hairstyles.
The plot is predictable...

Because this is a novella, a plot that really needs to play out in a full-length novel suffers terribly. It is awkward and overly-condensed. Nothing valuable is really added to the ongoing Fennbirn mythos, either. Characters enter and exit far too quickly for anyone to form an emotional attachmen...

Guys, if anyone was expecting something different I would be pretty concerned. It was so obvious! But that doesn't make the novella worse. I just wish there was more new information you know.
