Flash is a comic that evokes the feel-good ideas of right and wrong, family and friends, and redeemable villains. If that's not what you're into, give it a pass. Seriously.
Stop trying to make a Milleresque Dark Flash happen.
It's never going to happen.
Speed of Darkness is a Wally-heavy...

Much smaller stories in this volume told from Kid Flash's point of view. Pre-Flashpoint Wally West shows up for an issue. Next up is a three issue arc featuring The Shade, followed by an issue where Barry and Iris finally go on a date.
The Good: These are much more character focused issues mainly...

Shorter, uglier and one hell of a lot cheesier than it's predecessor, Speed of Darkness is an underwhelming follow-up to the first Rebirth volume of The Flash. I opened my review of that volume (Lightning Strikes Twice) by noting how important it is for a series to start on a high note, but this...

This was the first book I've read of Flash to make me like Wally (New52 Wally) but damn it, I did haha.
So Flash is still running around being Mr. Flashly Flash. Cheesy things like "That's A Flash Fact!" and all that. However the key plot point in here is training kid Flash (Wally New52) and gett...

World: I found the art to be better than the last arc. It's still awfully scratchy in a bad way and character faces are still off, but it is a lot better than the last arc. The world building here is okay, it's slow and plodding and there are no really distinct pieces for Barry's world at th...

Well, it looks like I'm done with this book, for the time being. The first volume was ok, with fairly good characterization. This one was a total snooze. The Shade story isn't just dull, it's a poor use of the character. A lot of the dialog is sadly trite, and the characters aren't really going a...

Speed of Darkness wasn't as good as Vol. 1 - this time the plot was sort of thin, the artwork was inconsistent, and still no Dr. Meena Dhawan (though she's mentioned) - but it was still good to see our title hero trying to properly mentor Kid Flash.

Read as single issue comics. I thought this volume was stronger than the first one.

Read this review and more on my blog, uncovered-books.
I received a free copy of The Flash Volume 2: Speed Of Darkness from DC Comics in exchange for my honest opinion.
Compared to the first Volume, I found this second Volume to be a let down. When it comes to The Flash, I have never been overly ex...

The core story of this volume, "The Speed of Darkness" is all about Flash and the Shade. And, it's terrific that DC is continuing right on with their Rebirth, and so offering us a mature Shade, continuing his storyline from James Robinson's excellent Starman comic. But, beyond that the story is p...
